Create a Website

Create your own WordPress website

This post will explain why you can and should create your own WordPress website rather than any other.

It is so easy to create a website these days; anyone can do it, right? With go.daddy and 123.reg and others offering you a website for £1, it seems such an easy thing to do, some sites even giving them away for FREE! I mean Free who wouldn’t want something for FREE? You believe you have a great deal until you start trawling through the process and adding extras! Suddenly you think ‘Woah this is more than a quid! It costs a few hundred!’ further to this after you have created your fabulous site, edits are a royal pain in the A*s and indeed not easy to manage!

Eventually, you give up and go to see an expert who will charge anything from £500 – £10,000 for a website, dependant on what you need.

What can I do to save myself time?

Let us save you a world of pain. In our opinion, if you want to create a website, creating a WordPress website is the best and most flexible option for any business. And yes you can have a free WordPress website too absolutely. Although it won’t look the best, as it will likely have too many ads. However It can, and will grow with you and your needs, and all it takes is minimal skills to create new content. You can add new elements to your site whenever you feel its necessary. Maybe at the beginning, you just wanted the online presence, and then you realise you can sell things – with WordPress you add another plugin when you need it and voila! You have an online shop! (a plugin is like an app for your website).

One of our services as a virtual assistant in Northampton is to create WordPress sites for any business, but there is no reason why you cant create your own. All in with a domain and email should cost around $500. Of course, this would be for a bog-standard template website. But at least you know you are getting exactly what it says on the tin!

If you want to create a website, you can find it takes no more than 10 minutes on the WordPress site.

If you get stuck and need assistance contact us and we will help. We are not rocket scientists, what we do offer, is time for you to get on with the bigger things and some useful skills 🙂

Virtual Assistant in Northampton gets Cyber Essentials Certification!

I am Virtual Assist Limited, one of only two registered cyber essentials certified virtual assistants on the government-held register within the UK.

Why did a virtual assistant in Northampton get cyber essentials certification?

  1. We wanted to work on government contracts so we needed to take security seriously.
  2. We want to ensure that all of our client data is secure and cyber essentials provided us with that peace of mind.
  3. New GDPR rules made us focus on how we process information, as it has most other reputable companies, we would hate to lose anyone’s sensitive data due to a security breach.
  4. We wanted to give peace of mind to our clients that we have taken cyber security seriously.

What have we done to gain this certification?

We have taken an extensive look at all of our network systems and IT equipment to ensure that it is safe and defended against common cyber crimes such as hacking, phishing or password guessing – hackers can do this will little skill.

So after some tough learning and simple tweaks to what we already do we gained certification!

Virtual Assistant Northampton March Update

How Virtual Assistants in Northampton roll…

I’m sat here on a Friday night catching up with everything because the business is growing fantastically! So much so we are employing new team members – to be introduced on the website soon. Due to this amazingly unexpected workload, the blog is lacking! I have decided I can only afford the time to update once a month – I’m too busy helping clients and they definitely come first! – Andrea Monaghan 🙂 xx

Quote of the month:
“When building a team, I always search first for people who love to win. If I can’t find any of those, I look for people who hate to lose.” Ross Perot

So what have the last couple of months brought us?

GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) comes into force on May 25. So, we’re setting up systems to ensure compliance.

GDPR seeks to improve the transparency and security of how an individual’s personal information is collected, stored and used, replacing the current 1998 Data Protection Act.

GDPR encompasses all businesses who deal with customers, clients or contractors who live in Europe, including the UK and will be law even after Brexit.

UK businesses must comply with these regulations or face substantial fines or potential business owners may even face a prison sentence – Something else to keep us busy over the coming months for sure!

On that note, we must say Happy Easter to all of our followers and hope you all have a great time over the holiday period!

10 Reasons Why You Might Need a Virtual Assistant

Why do you need a Virtual Assistant?

So here I am a virtual assistant writing a blog about why people would need my services, mainly to build up content on my site (just being honest:) but also to give people a reason to use my services too.

So here are 10 reasons why you might need to use a virtual assistant.

  1. You don’t have time to keep up with all of your paperwork?
  2. You need an extra person in the office but don’t want a full-time employee?
  3. You’re a badass entrepreneur but you’re just not a badass administrator?
  4. You don’t know how to create a new page on your website?

  8. You need to check how your website is performing and if there is anything you can do to improve it.
